Joseph, Pharaoh’s Ruler
Joseph interpreted dreams to prophesy coming events, when enslaved by the Egyptians, so successfully that the Pharaoh placed him second in command and gave him authority to rule the land. Pharaoh gave Joseph a ring from his own hand as a symbol of this authority and the second royal chariot to use. In the rock picture, Joseph is pausing before a temple to give orders regarding the tending of the grounds.
The horses are white marble and the beams of the temple are stratified marble. The images of the sun above the pillars and on the chariot are sand agate. The pillars are representative of a papyrus stock from which paper was made. They are of Oregon Jade and the chariot is of opalized wood from Linn County.
