The Living Rock Studios were filled with visitors during the last of three Experience Christmas events on Friday evening, December 18. The choir form the Brownsville Assembly of God Church was on hand to sing Christmas carols, while visitors of all ages wandered through the studio dedicated to rocks, art and history. Over 30 people visited during the evening.
The Studios were the result of Howard and Faye Taylor and Howard’s interest in art and rocks. Their daughters were available to answer questions, direct visitors to points of interest, and to welcome everyone. Daughter Nancy Bergerson lives in the attached home at the west entrance to Brownsville on Hwy 228.
One of the features is 7 complex pictures of the life of Christ constructed out of stone, with each slice of rock reflecting wonderful colors. Mr. Taylor was the artist who created these art objects. The building is very unique and is the shape of a large hollow tree, with multiple rocks imbedded into the structure. There is an amazing array of rocks found through the facility.
An extensive gift shop has a wide variety of items for sale including Thunder eggs, Jasper, Agate, Obsidian, Petrified Wood, and more. Also post cards and other gift items can be found there.
The Living Rock Studios are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm and reservations are suggested for large groups. There is no fee, but a donation is suggested. For more information call 541-466-5814.
