Although the prophets of Baal entreated Baal all afternoon to light their altar fire, nothing happened. Elijah entreated God, briefly, to light his altar and fire came down from heaven, lighting the wood and the meat and the water, even burning the water that filled the trench around the altar.

The fire is a slightly opalized Carnelian. The clouds are of turtle-back agate. The bushes in the foreground are Sagenite and the pebbles are of beach washed and wave polished stones from an ancient inland sea.
