Flight into Egypt
As a child, Christ was taken into Egypt by Joseph and Mary as a fulfillment of prophecy and to escape a massacre of children by the conquering rulers of their nation. The rulers were trying to eliminate the child born to be king, as announced by the spectacular star of Bethlehem. After a desert-scorched journey, the verdant valley of the Nile River lies in appealing invitation before them.
The palm tree trunk is outlined in petrified palm wood, and the foliage is of black and green jade. A dust storm in the sky is made from agate dust, and the pyramid and guard house are white marble.
