Living Rock Studios co-owner Nancy Bergerson talks about her father, Howard B. Taylor, whose picture is on display in the upper level of studios he built from agate, flagstone and petrified wood.

Family photographs, including ones of Faye and Howard Taylor on their wedding day, adorn The Living Rock Studios.

Howard Taylor’s rock “paintings” are a highlight of the tour. Slivers of rock glued to a sheet of glass and illuminated from behind create Moses and the Burning Bush, left, Flight into Egypt and five other Biblically-themed artworks.

The Living Rock Studios founder Howard B. Taylor sculpted a pioneer mother and baby out of soapstone.

Tours are given with flashlights to light up agates, quartz and other opaque rocks.
