Native Americans
Native Americans established Oregon long before settlers came to the territory—their skills, culture, and way of life were reflected in their tools, art, and clothing. Photos of Northwest tribes are on display at the Living Rock Studios.
There are also a number of Native American artifacts that were donated to the studios through the years. A stone bowl created and used by the Calapuya Indians, an ax head, and a historical map of northwest Oregon are just a few of the artifacts on display.
Howard B. Taylor admired the local Native Americans and made several arrowheads through the years and other stones using techniques taught by the native peoples.
